A poignant, beautifully written erotic novel from the bestselling author of The Dirty Girls Social Club, PUTA describes the life of one woman, Carmen Noa, through the sexual encounters she had from the age of 16 to 41. By turns sexy, sensual and devastating, this book shows that sex, for modern women, can be much more meaningful, dangerous and, at times, healing than most pop culture portrayals of it, informing every aspect of our lives.

PUTA edition by Alisa Valdes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I gave this book five stars because I completely enjoyed it. I loved the authors abililty to recall experience going so far back with such detail. I just recently found out this is like a memoir. It helps you see and realize how your experiences jhave deeply affect the actions and decisions you make in your life. I loved the honesty and how the author puts it all out there. I felt like it must have been liberating for her. I just turned 40 and started to think back to how my own past experiences have made me into the person I am today and how it is so much easier when you just accept and love yourself for who you are. I think we are all a work in progress and things just get better and easier with age.
Never disappoints!
I was very excited to read this book but while I found it interesting and some of the messages very powerful ultimately I was extremely disappointed. I am surprised this book has received such stellar reviews. I found the whole thing to be messy and disjointed. There were many problems with continuity. All in all I felt as if I was reading the first draft or outline for the novel instead of the final version. I even returned to to make sure that was not the case. This book has some great insights and the parts in which she explores Carmen's relationship with her parents were quite poignant but all in all I found it to be neither erotic or well written!
Nice read
I had a hard time getting into this book. I have loved all of her other books, but this book really took a turn for the dark side. As a semi-autobiographical novel, it's even more disturbing. The story of Carmen, and her adventures (and misadventures) is dark and twisted. The story picks up about half way through, but the sadness of the story stays with you long after you finish reading it.
I had a hard time starting this book but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. I always enjoy this author's work.
It was the most amazing reading...
